“And the woman saw that the tree was good to eat and that it was a desire for the eyes, and that the tree could pleasantly make one wise, and she took of its fruit, and she ate, and she gave to her husband who was with her, and he ate.” (Genesis 3:6)

Questions: What type of fruit tree was this? Why wouldn’t God have wanted to reveal the name of the tree? Why do you think Eve gave to her husband Adam as well? Why wasn’t she just content to eat the fruit herself?

Ideas: Candied citron slices or citron jam, dried figs or fig bars, fresh grapes, raisins, wine or grape juice, and anything made from wheat – bread, cookies, cake or pasta.

Ideas: Make a small incision down the center of any loaf or round cake to represent the opening in the earth, earthquake parfaits can be made by layering pudding and cookie crumbs – anywhere you take a bite the earth caves in!

“He took (the gold) from their hands, and fashioned it with an engraving tool into a molten calf, upon which they said: ‘This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!’” (Exodus 32:4)

Questions: Why do you think that Aaron agreed to help make the golden calf? Is he as much to blame as the people were? It seems so out of character for Aaron to agree to this! What do you think happened? Have you ever been in a situation when you have done something against your better judgment? What happened?

Ideas: Serving any kind of roast or beef, even meatloaf will do to represent the calf. Set your table with a golden tablecloth or table runner, decorate the table with gold confetti or golden napkin rings – anything glittery or sparkly with which to decorate your table – or your meatloaf!
